The Wounded Knee Massacre took place in 1890. This was a confrontation between the US military and the Sioux tribe. This was all caused by the misinterpretation the Ghost Dance, a religious dance done by the Sioux tribe. This was seen as an act of war, causing an attack by the US military on the Sioux tribe. This resulted in the deaths of hundreds of Native Americans.
