Thaddeus is a Southern delegate to the Democratic Convention for the 1860 election. Why would Thaddeus not support Stephen Douglas as the Democratic candidate in the 1860 election?

1. Stephen Douglas is not in favor of strong proslavery laws.

2. The convention broke up as the Southern states left to elect their own candidate.

3. Everyone knew that Stephen Douglas would lose the election.

4. Everyone knew he would refuse to serve for more than two terms as president.
