How is congress involved when the president negotiates a treaty with another country?

    The Congress is the body that consents and approves trade treaties being initiated or accepted by the President. A treaty can only be recognized as a treaty once it goes through consultations and advice from the supermajority body of the Congress, which is the United States Senate.
