How did the unification of Germany following the Franco-Prussian War set up future conflict between Germany and France?

    Germany encouraged Italy to Unify, Which France perceived as a treat to the balance of power in Europe

    French fear of German power would lead them to make alliances for protection. Also, when Germany unified they took provinces (Alsace and Lorraine) that France considered hers.
