What effect did the collapse of the western Roman empire have on the Western Europe

The collapse of the Roman Empire generated numerous consequences, which can be highlighted:

Ruralization: with the shortage of cities, coupled with the plague that spread and the constant Germanic attacks against large cities, the urban population started to take shelter in the vicinity of productive land. In this way, they protected themselves from hunger, plague and German violence. Population decrease: this whole process that characterized the collapse of the Roman Empire, with hunger, plague and violence, caused a considerable decrease in the population throughout Western Europe. Germanization of Europe: the establishment of the Germanic peoples, in the ancient territories dominated by the Romans, caused the formation of kingdoms in these places. Local cultures went through a process of merging Germanic culture with Latin culture.

Western Europe thrived without the oppressive rule of the Roman Empire. Former Roman lands were divided into several Germanic kingdoms. The Roman Catholic Church declined in power and influence.
