What information does the map provide about the Austria-Hungarian Empire? The empire was made up mainly of Austrians and Hungarians. Austria-Hungary was the strongest of the European empires at this time. Austria-Hungary was home to many different ethnic groups. Italians were the largest ethnic group in the Austria-Hungarian Empire.

    The Austro-Hungarian Empire in the beginning of the XX Century was a country which c) was home to many different ethnic groups. Inside its borders there were Italian, Slavic, German, Hungarian and other peoples that had their own languages and cultural backgrounds. This ethnic diversity was a source of tensions and crises which endangered the empire's integrity which was one of the main reasons behind the start of WWI.
