How did jim crow laws and practices deprive american citizens of their civil rights?

They legalized segregation, therefore prohibiting African Americans from being in places like public parks, beaches, restaurants that white people used and other public places and it also legalized having one bathroom for whites and one for African Americans and being separated while using the railroads
