When Johnson became president he primarily continued the work that Kennedy had been doing. He was able to get some of the laws that Kennedy had put forward to the Supreme court passed because he was an older, more experienced man wheras a lot of Supreme court members thought that Kennedy was too young and inexperienced and this made it hard for him to get any of his ideas passed. So essentially Johnson continued Kennedy's work.
