    Social reform refers to any attempt that seeks to correct any injustices in a society, social reform is a kind of social movement that aims to make gradual change or change in certain aspects of society.

    Some social reform movements in 1800s are

    -Woman suffrage. In 1869, the Wyoming territorial legislature gave women the right to vote and hold public office, this influenced society by having women be allowed to have a say in their country.

    - Treatment of Mentally Ill. Dorothea Dix lead a social reform on the proper treatment of mentally ill, since they were treated like animals. In the early 1800s, Americans viewed the US as a land of unlimited opportunity and because of this the US had to hide those who failed their ideals. Her reform lead to proper treatment of mentally ill and reformed the idea of a proper American

    - Abolition of Slavery. In 1841 white abolitionist William Lloyd Garrison founded "The Liberator" a Boston anti-slavery news paper and in his first issue he vowed for Social reform. He urged people to take action. This lead to black and white abolitionists to take action as much as they could, causing it to eventually lead to higher powers and change American views on slavery and race.
