The purpose of the Fourteenth Amendment was to

1) abolish slavery and involuntary servitude in the US.

2) prohibit discrimination based on race, color, or religion.

3) guarantee citizenship for anyone born or naturalized in the US

4) protect "separate but equal" laws in the workplace.
