Why did Americans support going to war after the Pearl Harbor attack during WW II

    The United States got involved due to Japan was allied with the Axis powers: Germany and Italy. By bombing Pearl Harbor, Japan knew it would take 6 months for the United States to retaliate. Along with Japan wanted the Phillipines and areas the United States navy controlled under territories.
