The oldest interior region of North America is called The interior platform, which is consist of the Great Plains of Canada and the US. The oldest rocks in the world that occur in the Canadian Shield will attest this fact. This old rock was called the faux amphibolite which ages have been precisely measured through the ratios of the radioactive decay of neodymium and samarium which are certain isotopes in the rock sample. The oldest rocks were volcanic deposits of the Nuvvuagittuq greenstone belt in Quebec, Canada. These rocks are valued to be 4.28 billion years old. About three billion years ago was one of fast crustal development in North America, through which most of the Canadian Shield and the crust beneath the northern Great Plains was made.
