Because most Germans were dissatisfied with the way jews came into, and dominated most productive aspect of the German society ranging from business to research and the academics. The Germans perceived the jews as an invasive group of people (even comparing them to rats) whose success growth rate needed to be checked or they would outrun them in the German society.
