Why did Philadelphia become important in early America?

    Philadelphia became a trading center and would later become the first capital of the new nation

    Declaration of Independence was signed there.

    You could also say that the liberty bell can also be found in Philadelphia. Other early government meetings occurred there but I would say the declaration of independence is the main thing
