What was alexis de tocqueville's opinion of the southern states?

    Tocqueville's opinion of southern states was in regard to slavery where he romanticized that the relationship between the masters and their slaves was better, more humane and less-prejudicial than in the North. He therefore surmised that the institution of slavery was needed to maintain a good balance of racial tensions.
