    The answer in this case is true cause there was really no other way for the western world to deliver the goods the towns people were in need of.

This was considered to be the first big crisis that happened during the so-called Cold War; a fictional arms-race betwewen the Western democratic powers (especially the US) and the Eastern communist powers (especially the Soviet Union). When this happened, they decided they would supply the Berlin area with areal supplies.
