What were some of the problems that the settlers at Jamestown ran into when they tried to establish their colonies?

They faced Starvation, and disease. One of those disease were malaria

A prolonged drought that made growing crops and finding fresh water difficult caused starvation and the drinking of contaminated water, which, along with the swampy area's mosquitoes, contributed to the spread of deadly diseases/illnesses. The people also faced conflict among indigenous people, poor leadership in their community, the extreme heat and cold of Virginia's climate, and the fact they were unprepared to survive in such cruel conditions.
