Did watergate demonstrate the overall strength or weakness of the american democratic system?

The Watergate scandal demonstrated the overall strength of the American democratic system. The democratic system in place in the US allowed the Supreme Court to check the power of the executive branch (aka president). When the president refused to give over tapes needed for the Watergate investigation, the court case allowed for the Supreme Court to make a critical ruling.

The Supreme Court reinstated the idea that no one is above the law, not even the president. So Nixon was forced to give over his tapes. This proved to be a critical strength in our government, proving that no individual can do whatever they want without consequences.
