Which is not true of the Indian Removal Act of 1830? Andrew Jackson supported it. The act forced members of five tribes to leave their lands in the East and relocate further west. Most Whigs opposed this legislation. Three of the five tribes favored the legislation because they welcomed the opportunity for westward expansion.

    The Indian Removal Act of 1830 was supported by Andrew Jackson, the act forced members of Native American tribes to leave their lands in the East and relocate further West. Most Whigs also opposed this legislation. However, three of the five tribes did NOT favor the legislation because they welcomed the opportunity for westward expansion. The Indian Removal Act of 1830 led to the forcible removal of Indians form the Southeast which can be considered ethnic cleansing and was not supported by the Native American tribes themselves.
