Select the three ways in which World War II differed from World War I.

German armies were more powerful. They had better equipment, weapons, and training than their World War I predecessors.

The Germans were able to quickly conquer most of Europe with relative ease.

Unlike World War I, the Allies would have to actually invade the continent of Europe.

There was no possibility that the Axis Powers would agree to a negotiated armistice. The Axis Powers would have to be beaten into submission.

The correct answers are the following:

German armies were more powerful. They had better equipment, weapons, and training than their World War I predecessors. Nazi Germany had recovered from their economic crisis mainly enahcing the war industry: massive production of weapons and raw materials with the aim of building a large and well-prepared army. Such army would allow them to meet their territorial expansion desires. The Germans were able to quickly conquer most of Europe with relative ease. Unlike World War I, the Allies would have to actually invade the continent of Europe. In the first year of warfare, almost the whole French territory was conquered (except a small Southern region), and Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland were also conquerered. This is why Allied powers had to start gaining back all those territories. Operations such as the Normandy landings (D-day) in 1944 had to be executed so that Allied armies could enter in Western Europe. There was no possibility that the Axis Powers would agree to a negotiated armistice. The Axis Powers would have to be beaten into submission. The Allied powers knew that Hitler would not stop and negotiate, his pretensions involved German supremacy over all other territories in the world hence, he would not listen to any agreement.
