    The New York colony was one of 13 original colonies in America. New York colony was a Constitutional monarchy, controlled by a governor chosen by the English king.

    Explanation:

    In the country, there was also an elected assembly. Not everyone in the colony had equal rights. Women, Indians, slaves and free black people had limited right in the colony. Women could own property, but they didn't have the right to vote nor to do some government function.

    Languages spoken in New York colony are English, Dutch, Iroquoian languages, Algonquian languages.
