What would the conditions been like on the Trail of Tears

Horrific. My ancestors were there.

Think of being forced to march along, no matter what the weather is like, with very little to eat or drink, no ability to have a bath or go to the bathroom. You hardly have any belongings, and those you do you must carry or leave behind.

You are being forced to leave everything that you know behind, your home, your land, animals to go to a place that is uncertain. All you know is that you are being led along by foreigners to this place and they are not very kind to you ...

So, the conditions were awful, the people scared and depressed, and sickness and poverty ran rampant - as did anger and resentment.
