    A

    Explanation:

The formation of the populist party was as a result of the farmers who were in high debts due to decreasing prices and excessive interest rates from banks. This culminated into the formation of an alliance that fought the Government for better conditions. The alliance then evolved into the populist party who advocated for all producing classes and fighting big banks and corporations. The effect the party had was that there was a reduction of political corruption and economic inequality after the formation of the populist party.
