Lindsay and menonhave 1,240 stickers. menon has 4 times as many stickers as Lindsay. menon decides to have 6 stickers on each page of an album. a. how many stickers does menon have? b. after menon fills some pages in album, how many stickers are left over? c. How many stickers does he need to complete one more page?

    You start out with these equations:

    m=menon's stickers

    l=lindsay's stickers

    1240=l+m

    m=4l

    Then, you can use substitution. Plug in 4l for the m in the first equation.

    1240=l+4l

    Then simplify.

    1240=5l

    Divide.

    1240/5=5l/5

    248=l

    Now you have the value for l and you can plug it in the second equation to figure out what m equals.

    m=4 (248)

    m=992
