Angel bought 8 oranges and 11 apples for a total of $15.22. He knows that each orange costs $0.50 and reasoned that each apple must cost a little more than $1.00. Is the answer reasonable why or why not?

    Find cost of apples

    total=oranges+apples

    total-oranges=apples

    0.5=1/2

    cost of oranges=8 times 0.5=8 times 1/2=4

    total=15.22

    oranges=4

    15.22-4=apples

    11.22=11 apples

    we can see that if the apples were 1 dollar each then the cost woud be $11, but is is more, so it is a little more than $1 each
