So, I would first see what the value would be if there was only one nickel.

.05+7 (.1) =.75

Now divide 3.75 by. 75 to see how many there would be:

3.75:.75 = 5

Now see if there was 5 nickels

5 (.05) + 35 (.1) =.25+3.5=3.75

So there are 5 nickels and 35 dimes.
