John and Karen plan on building a garden in their new home. They plan on designing a rectangular garden with a perimeter of 24 feet. If the width of the garden is two times the length, what are the dimensions of their designed garden. The width is how many feet and the length is how many feet?

    Width is 8 and length is 4

    P = 2 (L + W)

    P = 24

    W = 2L

    24 = 2 (L + 2L)

    24 = 2 (3L)

    24 = 6L

    24/6 = L

    4 = L

    W = 2L

    W = 2 (4)

    W = 8

    so the length (L) is 4 ft and the width (W) is 8 ft
