What value of x makes this statement true 3x+4=9x-8

    The answer is x = 2. Simply because, you need to get rid of one of the variables and usually you got rid of the small one so subtract 3x on both sides leaving you with 4=6x-8 now, you're trying to get x by itself so you add 8 on both sides leave you with 12=6x now just simply divide both sides by 6 and that would give you 2.
