Is 3 (x + 1 1/2) - 3 equivalent to 3x + 1 1/2

    It is not equivalent because yes it would be 3x but after that everything changes.

    Explanation : 3•x=3x; 3•11.5 = 34.5; and you can't forget the 3 on the out side there for the equation would be equivalent to

    3x+34.5-3
