    Set up a slope intercept form equation

    (y2 - y) = m (x2 - x)

    where "m" is your slope and "x" and "y" is your chosen coordinate values.

    Table 3 shows linear function.

    x - 2 - 4 - 6 - 8 - 10 - 12 - 14

    y - 1 - 6 - 11 - 16 - 21 - 26 - 31

    Figure out what your slope is by using the slope formula

    m = (y2-y) / (x2-x)

    then plug that slope into your slope intercept form and using any "x" and "y" value then simplify the equation and you'll get the linear function of that table.

    m = (1-6) / (2-4)

    m = - 5 / - 2

    m = 5/2

    y = mx + b

    1 = (5/2) (2) + b

    b = 5 - 1

    b = 4

    So the equation is

    y = (5/2) x + 4
