    x/45 = y/75

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Car 1

    Distance = x

    rate = 45 miles per hours

    t = 15 minutes

    D=rt

    x = 45*15

    Car 2

    Distance = y

    rate = 75 miles per hours

    t = 15 minutes

    D = rt

    y = 75*15

    The 15 are the same in both equations

    x / 45 = 15

    y / 75 = 15

    Set them equal

    x/45 = y/75
