Suppose you had $6.00 to buy bananas and apples. Bananas cost $0.49 per pound and

apples cost $0.34 per pound. Write a linear equation that represents the different

amounts of fruit you could buy. If you buy 10 pounds of bananas, how many pounds of

apples would it be possible to buy?

    X = pounds of apples

    0.34x+0.49 (10) = 6

    0.34x+4.9=6

    0.34x=1.1

    X=3.23

    Answer: it is possible to buy 3 pounds of apples
