Cecil averages 31 miles per gallon when driving his car on the highway to visit friends 461 miles away. If he filled the 16-gallon gasoline tank before leaving and did not buy any gasoline along the way, about how many gallons of gasoline are left in the tank when he arrives?

    496-461=35

    35:31=1.129

    so about 1 gallon left
