A town's total allocation for police officers wages and benefit in a new budget os $800,000. If wages are calculated at $55,000 per officer and benefits at $25,000 per officer, write an equation where the solution is the number of officers the town can employee, if they spend their whole budget

    The amount of money paid to each of the officer is the sum of the wage and the benefits. This amount is equal to $80,000. The number of officers (n) that can be hired by the town is the quotient of the total budget and the pay per employee.

    n = ($800,000) / $80,000

    n = 10
