The sum of two numbers is 35. Three times the larger number is the same as 4 times the smaller number. Find the larger number

    Let the 2 numbers be x and y

    x + y = 35

    let the larger number be x

    3x = 4y

    y = 3x/4

    so,

    x + 3x/4 = 35

    7x/4 = 35

    x/4 = 5

    x = 4*5 = 20

    so the larger number is 20.
