The width of a rectangler figure is 5 units smaller than its length. if its area is 14 units square. find its dimensions

    W = L - 5

    A = W. L

    14 = (L - 5). L

    14 = L² - 5L

    L² - 5L - 14 = 0

    (L - 7) (L + 2) = 0 {factorized}

    L = 7 / L = - 2

    In this case L would be equal to 7 because a length of anything can't be a negative number

    Therefore, W = 2

    Answer : Length = 7 Width = 2
