The prices of all rail tickets increased by 5%

the price of a rail ticket from London to Ipswich increased by £2.30

work out the price of the ticket before the increase

    New price = (1 + 5%) x old price

    New price = 1.05 x old price

    old price = 2.3 / 1.05

    Old price = £2.19
