how do you figure out which order to do two step equations in? like which thing do you subtract/add/multiply/divide first? I understand that you do the opposite of whatever's shown on the opposite side, but when?

    You use the Order of Operations.

    Step-by-step explanation:

    First do all function in parenthesis from left to right. Then multiplication and division from left to right, whichever comes first. Then addition and subtraction from left to right, whichever comes first.

    Example: 6 - (5-3) + 10 x (2+1) =

    6 - 2 + 10 x 3 =

    6 - 2 + 30 =

    4 + 30 =
