If a temperature in degrees Celsius is given as C, finding the sum of 1.8 times C and 32 gives the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit. The temperature in degrees Fahrenheit is given by, and 40°C is equal to °F.

    F (C) = 1.8C+32 so when C=40°

    F (40) = 1.8 (40) + 32

    F (40) = 72+32

    F (40) = 104°
