Write the equation in words. 4x + 2.5 = 12.5. Subtract 2.5 from both sides of the equation. Divide both sides of the equation by 4. Each loaf contains 2.5 cups of flour.

12.5=4x+2.5 is the equation. First you would subtract 2.5 from both sides, leaving 10=4x. Then you divide by 4 and your answer would be x=2.5
