In Joe's sock drawer, he has 10 white socks, 4 black socks, and 8 brown socks. if it is dark when Joe picks his socks this morning, what is the (simplified) probability that Joe picks a pair of brown socks? (assume he does not put the first one back in)

    The probability that he picks a brown sock is 8/22 or 4/11.

    The probability that he will pick another brown sock is 7/21 or 1/3.

    The probability that he will do both is (4/11) * (1/3), which equals 4/33.
