Vector's map has the scale missing. He knows that the distance from the lake to the youth center is 8 miles. On the map, they are 2 inches apart. What is the scale for vector's map

    We can set up a proportion here. On map scales, the scale goes like:

    "1 (length on the map) : x (real life length) "

    Here, we have 2 : 8. We need to make it so the first number is 1, because thats easier for measuring.

    2 : 8 / divide both sides by 2

    1 : 4

    The scale would be 1in : 4mi (in other words, 1 inch on the map corresponds to 4 miles in real life).
