    Simplify both sides of the equation.

    2 (3x-4) = 5x (6))

    (2) (3x) + (2) (-4) = 5x (6) (Distribute)

    6x+-8=30x

    6x-8=30x

    Subtract 30x from both sides.

    6x-8-30x=30x-30x

    -24x-8=0

    Add 8 to both sides.

    -24x-8+8=0+8

    -24x=8

    Divide both sides by - 24.

    -24x/-24 = 8/-24

    x=-13
