    sushil share = 1850*1/5=370

    june share=1850*4/5=1480

    wife of sushil = 370*3/10=111

    son share=370*1/10=37

    Answer: The answer is £74

    Step-by-step explanation: If Ushil and June share the total sum of 1850 in the ratio of 1 : 4, then we can express their ratio as follows,

    Ushil = 1/5 of the total (that is 1/5 x 1850)

    June = 4/5 of the total (that is 4/5 x 1850). The ratio of 1 : 4 means everything would be shared in fives, so for every £5, Ushil takes £1 and June takes £4, and so on. Therefore, Ushil's share would be

    Ushil = 1/5 x 1850

    Ushil = 370

    Now the question goes further to state that he shares this among himself, his wife and their son in the ratio 6 : 3 : 1. In the same way we computed the ratios for Ushil and June, we shall also do for Ushil, his wife and their son. Since they would be sharing in tens (that is 6 + 3 + 1 equals 10) his wife's share would be

    Wife = 3/10 x 370

    Wife = £111

    And that if his son would be

    Son = 1/10 x 370

    Son = £37.

    Now that we know how much the wife and son are receiving each, we can tell how much more the wife is getting more than their son which is simply the difference between their shares

    £111 - £37 which is £74.
