    x=11, y = 1

    Step-by-step explanation:

    x+y=12

    -x=-y-10

    multiply by - 1

    -1 * (-x) = -1 (-y-10)

    x = y+10

    substitute this into the first equation. everytime you see x put in y+10

    x+y=12

    (y+10) + y = 12

    combine like terms

    2y+10 = 12

    subtract 10 from each side

    2y+10-10=12-10

    2y = 2

    divide by 2

    2y/2 = 2/2

    y = 1

    now we need to find x

    x = y+10

    x = 1+10

    x = 11
