Round 3.047 to the nearest 100th To visually illustrate the rounding off of the values as said to the nearest hundredths. We can first disband the digit to simpler values using the expanded form:
1. 3 = ones
2. 0. 04 = hundredths
3. 0. 007 = thousandths
Since we have located the hundredths in 0.04 we can next round off it according to its nearest value which is 0.007. The number becomes 3.05.

The next larger hundredth is 3.05.
The next smaller hundredth is 3.04.
3.047 is closer to 3.05 than it is to 3.04,
so the nearest hundredth is 3.05.
