You want to solve for "b", right?
1/3 (b+6) = 1/4b+8 distribute 1/3 into the parenthesis
1/3 b + 1/3*6 = 1/4 b + 8
1/3 b + 2 = 1/4 b + 8 now combine like terms
1/3 b - 1/4 b = 8-2
1/12 b = 6 multiply both sides by 12
b = 12*6 = 72
Therefore: b = 72

Distribute on the left side
1/3b+2=1/4b+8
Multiply all terms by 12 to eliminate fractions
4b+24=3b+96
Subtract 3b from both sides
b+24=96
Subtract 24 from both sides
b=72
Final answer: b=72
