Jonathan needs two different kinds of socks for school a pair of gym cost 3 and a pair of dress sock cost 5. If he spent a total of 50 on socks how many of each type of sock did he purchase if the total number of socks is 12

    I wrote down 3g+5d=50 g stands for gym socks and d stands for dress socks. and the numeral next to them is the cost of each.

    I simply substituted numbers that equaled 12 when added and kept guessing till it equaled 50 dollars. I got 3 (5) + 5 (7) = 50. 5 Gym socks and 7 dress socks
