    The cost of one hosta is $6 and the cost of one shrub is $3.

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Having h representing the amount of hostas and s representing the amount of shrubs, we can make it into an equation.

    6h+14s=78

    10h+5s=75

    There's probably a real way to do this, but I just guess numbers until I find something that fits. Eventually I tried s=3, then plugged that into the equations

    6h+14 (3) = 78

    Simplify

    6h+42=78

    Subtract 42

    6h=36

    Divide by 6

    h=6

    Then I plugged the numbers into the other equation

    10 (6) + 5 (3) = 75

    Simplify

    60+15+75

    Is the equation true? Yes. You have your answer

    h=6, s=3
