The transportation division is building a cone-shaped container to store salt and sand. The container will have a diameter of 50 feet and is 60 feet high. What is the maximum amount of sand and salt the container can hold? (Approximate pi with 3.14.)

    Diameter, d = 50 ft

    Height, h = 60 ft

    π = 3.14

    The radius is 50/2 = 25 ft.

    Calculate the base area of the cone

    A = π * (25 ft) ² = 3.14*625 ft² = 1962.5 ft²

    Calculate the volume of the cone

    V = (1/3) * A*h

    = (1/3) * (1962.5 ft²) * (60 ft)

    = 39,250 ft³

    Answer: 39,250 ft³
